The senior vice president of services at Apple revealed that the company has no interest in creating a search tool similar to Google.

In a statement discovered by Reuters and shared by the website MacRumors, Apple’s senior vice president of services, Eddy Cue, explained why the company is not interested in developing its own search tool.

The statement was presented by Apple in a U.S. federal court in the capital on Monday (23). Cue explained in the statement that the company has no plans to create a search engine.

Among the main reasons he mentioned were that it would be too expensive and that Apple does not want to sell targeted ads, as this would conflict with their declared privacy policies.

Cue also revealed that the company does not have the team or infrastructure required to develop the project, and that the integration of artificial intelligence would make the business even more uncertain.

Additionally, Apple has a billion-dollar partnership with Google. According to Cue, Google paid Apple about $20 billion just in 2022 to be the default search engine for the Safari browser.

However, this agreement violates U.S. antitrust laws, according to the federal government. The company has requested permission for Apple representatives to testify when the case begins in April.
